Today in this section of KS2 quizzes, we are going to look at what a force is, effects of forces, the two classification of forces and the various types of forces that fall under these two classes.
A Force is simply a push or a pull on a body or object by another. When a body pushes or pulls another body, it causes the body to either stop, change its direction, twist, deform or even make the body to move faster.
Forces are subdivided into two classes; action-at-a distance forces and contact forces.
Action-at-a-distance forces are forces that exist between bodies which are not in physical contact. We have as examples, gravitational force, electrostatic force, weight etc
Contact forces on the other hand are forces that exist because of the touching of two or more bodies. Example, frictional force, upthrust force, tension force etc
