A carroll diagram is a table like diagram which is used to arrange or organise data and sort it out according to the various criterions that have been given. In ks1, children are taught on sorting and the teachers often ask the children to group some objects according a particular criteria, For example: the children may be given a box containing coloured objects and are asked to sort these objects into two group: ‘Red coloured objects’ and ‘Green coloured objects’, The children may also be given some numbers to sort out the even numbers from the odd numbers.

Carroll diagrams are similar to Venn diagrams in the sense that they sort out data diagrammatically.
