Variation and classification quiz

Quiz Description

Variation and classification quizzes.
(Online  quizzes, with exam standards for the  GCSE and GCE A level with different difficulties levels on Variation and Classification).

Most organisms are given particulate names that they are referred to, these names go a long way back in the past to when scientists unanimously agreed on how a general name should be used to refer to a given organism worldwide.  These quizzes will help in the identification of living organisms as well as in understanding the diversity of living organisms. These quizzes will also help us to  understand and study the features, similarities and differences between different living organisms and how they are grouped under different categories.

    Variation
Variation is simply any difference between cells, or individual organisms, or groups of organisms of any species caused either by genetic differences (genotypic variation) or by environmental factors on the expression of the genetic potentials (phenotypic variation).
-Genotypic variation: This is the genetic composition of an organism
-Phenotypic variation: This is the outward appearance or looks of an organism.

Classification
Classification is the process of putting things in a particular criteria or categorizing things based on certain properties. Organisms are usually grouped together when they have common features between them. The classification of living things usually have to includes these seven levels which are, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species.
Scientists classify living things in order to especially organize and make sense of the incredible diversity of life. Now modern scientists based their classifications mainly on molecular similarities. They now group together organisms that have similar proteins and DNA in the same group

During exams, most questions especially during practical session are usually from classification, therefore you should study this quiz well and take the quiz to test your knowledge on it..
