Chemical reactions need different lengths of time for the reaction to come to completion and this depends on the characteristics of the product, the characteristics of the reactants and also the type of conditions in which the reaction is taking place all of this is known as the rates of the chemical reaction.

Factors affecting the rate of a chemical reaction.

The rate of a reaction is then defined as the change in the concentration with time

Rate = (Change in concentration)/(Change in time)
