Revising Properties of chemical bonding and materials with quizzes

(Simple Properties of chemical bonding and materials quizzes for students going in for the GCE, GCSE, and necta)

Welcome to gcequiz platform, the perfect place to test your knowledge.

In this section, we will be looking at chemical bonding and materials. Here, you'll get to know about the various types of chemical bonds that exist, their properties, and so on. Anticipate as there are revision quizzes ready for you below. These quizzes will assist you in your revision for the exams. Firstly, let's have a quick overview of chemical bonding:

A chemical bond is an attraction between atoms, ions or molecules that makes possible the formation of chemical bonds. The attraction may be in form of an electrostatic force of attraction between two ions that are oppositely charged, or in form of the sharing of electrons. Hence, this gives rise to the various types of bonding which are: ionic bonding, covalent bonding, and metallic bonding. We will look at 2 major types:

Ionic bonding: Ionic bonding is a type of chemical bonding that deals with the electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions (between cations and anions), or between two atoms that have different electronegativities. As a result of an ionic bond, ionic compounds are formed.

Covalent bonding: This is a type of chemical bonding that has to deal with the sharing of a pair or pairs of electrons between atoms in order to obtain a stable structure. The pairs of electrons shared are known as shared pairs or bonding pairs.

During the exams, students are expected to be able to answer questions under chemical bonding. This would require students to have sufficient revision in order to master the concept and get a pass in this section of the exams. For more quizzes, click here.
