What is a metal?

In science, a metal is a component that promptly shapes positive particles (cations) and has metallic bonds. Metals are some of the time portrayed as a grid of positive particles encompassed by a haze of delocalized electrons. 

A Transition metal is therefore are all the elements in the d block and d block elements are elements which the valences electrons enter the d sub shell of the atom. The first transition series begins with scandium (Sc) or titanium (Ti) and ends with zinc (Zn). The second series includes the elements yttrium (Y) to cadmium (Cd) and the third series starts from lanthanum (La) to mercury (Hg).

Physical Properties

• They are good conductors of heat and electricity.
• Their densities are very high.
• High melting points.
• Are hard and tough.
• Can be hammered into shape easily.

Uses 

• Some strong metals are used for building structures.
