Hello guys and Welcome to gcequiz.com.

Here, we will see what respiration is all about, the types of respiration and the different organisms that respire. We will also see what the respiratory system is all about. This section helps us to understand how we manage to breath, exhale and inhale. Respiration and its studies provide us with knowledge on how oxygen is brought into our bodies, which we need for our cells to live and function properly; and this helps us get rid of carbon dioxide, which in this case is a waste product of cellular function.

Respiration
Respiration in simple words is simply the process of inhaling and exhaling. Oxygen is usually inhaled(taken in), while Carbon dioxide is usually exhaled(taken out), this act or process is known as breathing . Respiration is also the process by which cells use oxygen to break down sugar and obtain energy.

The respiratory system is any biological system consisting of specific organs and structures used for gas exchange in animals and even in plants.
For humans, the respiratory organs are the Nose, Mouth, throat(or pharynx), the voice box (larynx), the windpipe (or trachea),The large airways(bronchi) and the lungs. All these organs are involved in breathing. The respiratory system also functions in  gas exchange, acid-base balance, phonation, pulmonary defense and metabolism in the system, and lastly the handling of bioactive materials.
