Description

In this O level inequality quiz made up of 15 questions, we will talk about what inequalities are all about. 15 questions which have been set based on the gce a level syllabus for mathematics, each question has four options and just one and only one of these options is correct.

What is an inequality?

An inequality is simply a mathematical relationship linking two expressions and it is represented using one of the following mathematical symbols:

  • < for "less than"
  • > for "greater than"
  • ≤ for "less than or equal to"
  • ≥ for "greater than or equal to"
  • ≠ for "not equal to"

When solving quadratic or linear inequalities, it is important to note that whenever you divide or multiply both sides by a negative number, the inequality sign is reversed. If it were “<” then after being multiplied or divided by a negative the sign will be “>”.
