A multiple can be defined as any number gotten by multiplying other numbers together. Let’s take for example the multiples of 3. They are 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, etc. Zero could also be considered as a multiple of 3 since zero is obtained by multiplying 3 by another number (in this case, zero). In a nutshell, a number is said to be a multiple of 3 if that number can be obtained by multiplying 3 by another number. 12 is a multiple of 3 because it is obtained by multiplying 3 by 4. The same applies to 18 which is equal to 3 x 6.
