This quiz will focus on Adverbs, adverbs are used to describe doing words(verbs). For example, “She argued loudly”, the adverb which is loudly describing how she argued(the verb). The adjective here is loud, and so using -ly, it becomes a describing adverb. So adverbs are useful in that, adverbs convey information about how things and events happen, as well as when, where, and to what extent they do.
So, An Adverb can be defined to be a word or phrase that modifies or qualifies an adjective, verb, or other adverb or a word group, expressing a relation of place, time, circumstance, manner, cause, degree. For example, in the sentence “She fought rather bravely” The adverb “bravely” adds more meaning or information to the verb “fought” and also, rather is another adverb adding more meaning to the adverb bravely. With these examples, we can see that adverbs can add more information to our verbs and most of them end with the suffix “ly”.
