Here we will be talking about the ks2 Victorian era…

What is the Victorian era?

The Victorian era or the Victorian age was a period of the reign of Queen Victoria from the 20th of June 1837 until she died on the 22nd of January 1901. This era witnessed a lot of resistance to the rationalism that defined the Georgian period.  The Victorian age was the next golden age after the Elizabethan age.

During the Victorian age, there was a huge improvement in technology and this was due to the industrial Revolution. It was an era of prosperity. To show this prosperity, goods that were manufactured in Britain were displayed during the Great Exhibition of 1851. Due to this prosperity, there was social injustice due to working conditions of poor people. This made Charles Dickens and Elizabeth Gaskell to talk about England's social conditions in their novels. The novels were then referred to as social problem novels.
