The Roman Empire, founded 27  was a post-republican period of ancient Rome. This Empire lasted from 27BC to 476AD and was founded when Augustus Caesar proclaimed himself first emperor of Rome. In 476, the Germanic leader by name Odoacer started a revolt and Emperor Romulus Augustulus was deposed and from then on, there was no Roman emperor that ruled a part of Italy.
