You are welcome to gcequiz, your platform  with free and numerous quizzes that have been set based on the ks2 national curriculum. In this section, we will be looking at what a fraction is and the various types of fractions.

A fraction is a number that is not a whole number (whole numbers include numbers like 2, 5, 10 etc). Fractions are therefore numbers like ½, ¼, etc

A fraction has two parts and we are going to take ¾ as a case study. The two parts of a fraction are; the numerator and the denominator. With our case study, the number 3 is found in the numerator while the number 4 is found in the denominator of the fraction.

There are basically 3 types of fractions;

Proper fractions: fractions in which the numerator is less than the denominator e.g ⅝

Improper fractions are fractions in which the denominator is less than the numerator e.g 9/2

Mixed fractions are fractions that made up of a whole number attached to a proper fraction, e.g 2½

As earlier mentioned, the quizzes are free of charge so they can be answered anywhere and at any time of the day, an our quizzes under fractions are  tailored for students doing KS2 to help them master the topic better, if you wish to test your understanding then select a quiz below and get started.
