(Simple Trigonometry quizzes for O level maths students for GCE, GCSE, and necta )

Hi, finally you visited this platform to play trigonometry quiz. Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that deals with angles and triangles. For a start, we will be looking at circles, angles, fundamental trig ratios like sine, cosine, and tangent, etc. There are already made quizzes for this topic below. Hence:

Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that studies relationships between side lengths and angles of triangles. The word trigonometry comes from the Greek words trigonon (“triangle”) and metron (“to measure”). Until about the 16th century, trigonometry was chiefly concerned with computing the numerical values of the missing parts of a triangle (or any shape that can be dissected into triangles) when the values of other parts were given. For example, if the lengths of two sides of a triangle and the measure of the enclosed angle are known, the third side and the two remaining angles can be calculated. Such calculations distinguish trigonometry from geometry, which mainly investigates qualitative relations. Of course, this distinction is not always absolute: the Pythagorean Theorem, for example, is a statement about the lengths of the three sides in a right triangle and is thus quantitative in nature. Still, in its original form, trigonometry was, by and large, an offspring of geometry; it was not until the 16th century that the two became separate branches of mathematics.

Throughout history, trigonometry has been applied in areas such as geodesy, surveying, celestial mechanics, and navigation.

Trigonometry is known for its many identities, which are equations used for rewriting trigonometrical expressions to solve equations, to find a more useful expression, or to discover new relationships.

 A common use of mnemonics is to remember facts and relationships in trigonometry. For example, the sine, cosine, and tangent ratios in a right triangle can be remembered by representing them and their corresponding sides as strings of letters. For instance, a mnemonic is SOH-CAH-TOA:

Sine = Opposite ÷ Hypotenuse

Cosine = Adjacent ÷ Hypotenuse

Tangent = Opposite ÷ Adjacent

During the exams, students are tested on their ability to apply the fundamental trigonometric ratios in several mathematical and real-life situations. Also, they could be asked to derive other trig ratios using the fundamentals. With this in mind, the O level Maths Quizzes will assist students to practice with other maths topics.
