In polynomials, variables can also be called indeterminates. An example of a polynomial with one indeterminate is y^2 − 3x + 5,

where x is the indeterminate. Other variables could be added to the above polynomial to form a polynomial with more than one indeterminate.

Polynomials also form polynomial equations which is very useful and can be implemented to solve many real life situations. The use of polynomials cut across other subjects and departments such as chemistry, physics, economics, social science and more. Polynomials also play a role in solving other problems in mathematics such as calculus and algebra.
