Quiz Description

Revising Forces with quizzes

( Simple O level force quizzes for students preparing for the GCE, GCSE, and necta)

Hello folks.

In this section, our main focus will be on forces. We will be looking at the types, effects, and application of forces. In addition to a brief summary, there are quizzes below to assist students to revise the topic well. Before proceeding, let's have a review of what forces are:

A force is an interaction that when not interrupted, will change the motion of an object. In simple terms, a force is a push or a pull exerted on an object. Force, calculated using the formula below, is measured in Newtons (N), and 1N is defined as the force that is required to accelerate a 1kg mass by 1m/s^2.

F = ma

The equation above is derived from newton's second law of motion which states "The acceleration of an object is directly related to the net force and inversely related to its mass." There are two main types of forces which are: Action-at-a-distance force(noncontact forces), and Contact force. Examples of action-at-a-distance forces are electric force, magnetic force, and gravitational force. On the other hand, examples of contact forces are frictional force, reaction force, tension, and air resistance.

Some applications of forces include:

  • A force is used to move a stationary object..
  • It is used to stop the motion of an object
  • Forces can change the size, shape, and physical structure of an object.
  • It can be used to change the direction of motion of an object
  • It provides force of friction between two objects that are in motion or at rest.

During the exams, students are expected to be able to apply the fundamental knowledge gotten from the study of forces and also master the types and application of forces. The evaluation will be done via MCQs and short answer questions. For more O level physics quizzes, click here.
