Group VIII Noble Gases quiz

Quiz Description

Revising Group VIII the Noble gases with quizzes

(Group VIII the Noble gases quiz for students doing the GCSE, GCE Advanced level and necta)

Here we're going to look at all the elements in group VIII, their physical properties and the uses of some of these noble gases.

All the Group VIII elements are known as the Noble gases and they consist of seven elements which are (He) helium, (Ne) neon, (Ar) argon, (Kr) krypton, (Xe) xenon, (Rn) radon and (Og) oganesson.

Physical Properties of Noble gases

Noble gases are

  1. Colourless
  2. Tasteless
  3. Odourless and
  4. nonflammable gases

This group can be also be refered to as group 18 or group 0

The bounties of the respectable gases decline as their nuclear numbers increment. Helium is the most copious component known to mankind aside from hydrogen. All the respectable gases are available in Earth's environment and, aside from helium and radon, their significant business source is the air, from which they are acquired by liquefaction and fragmentary refining. Most helium is created industrially from certain petroleum gas wells. Radon typically is disengaged as a result of the radioactive deterioration of radium mixes. The cores of radium molecules unexpectedly rot by emanating energy and particles, helium cores (alpha particles) and radon iotas.

Uses of some noble gases

  • Helium as a noble gas is used to fill balloons.
  • Neon used in some lamps.
  • Krypton is also used in some lamps, especially headlamps. etc
