A Level Trigonometry Quizzes

Revising Trigonometry with Quizzes (Trigonometry Quizzes for students who wish to sit in for the GCE A level, GCSE or necta) Welcome to gcequiz.com. Today we will be looking at what Trigonometry is all about, some trigonometric functions and the importance of Trigonometry in our day to day lives. Trigonometry is a branch in Mathematics that studies right-angled triangles. It is also a form of geometry. Trigonometry is concerned with the relationship between the angles of a triangle and its sides with their measurements. In trigonometry, the proportion between any different sides of a right-calculated triangle is given as an element of points inside the triangle. These ratios are known as trigonometric functions. There exist 6 types of trigonometric functions but only three of them are used frequently and they are cosine, sine, and tangent. The other three that are rarely used are cotangent, cosecant and secant. Finding the sine, cosine and tangent of any right-angled triangle is summarized in the acronym 'SOHCAHTOA' This simply means that to get the sine of an angle, you take the opposite to that angle (O) and you divide by the hypotenuse (H) and you do almost the same thing for cosine and tangent. Cosine = [Adjecent (A)]/[hypotenuse (H)] tangent = [opposite (O)]/[Adjecent (A)]
