Information: According to the Oxford Learner's Dictionaries, Information (on/about somebody/something) facts or details about someone or something, a piece of information, a source of information to collect/gather/obtain/receive information to provide/give/pass on information.

A System: This is a group of related or unrelated objects that work together as a whole for a common goal. Systems can be man-made things like a cell phone batteries or natural things like a solar system.

An Information System is therefore a set of interrelated components or objects working together to collect, process, store, and spread information to support decision making, coordination, control, analysis, and visualization in an  organization.

• Management Information Systems (MIS)
• Executive Support Systems (ESS)
• Office Automation Systems (OAS)
• Knowledge Management Systems (KMS)
• Decision Support Systems (DSS)
• Transaction Processing Systems (TPS)
