(Simple A level Earth Science quizzes for examination candidates going in for the GCE, GCSE, and necta)
Welcome to gcequiz platform, the perfect place to test your knowledge.
In this section, we will be looking at Earth sciences. Here, you'll get to know the various layers of the earth, their properties, and so on. To help students revise this topic better, revision questions are made available below. Firstly, let's define what we'll be studying:
The earth, being the only planet known to harbor life is the third from the sun. A portion of the earth (about 29%) is made up of, or consists of continents and islands, and the rest of it covered with water (oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, etc). The earth is made up of 4 main layers which are: the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core.
Crust: This is a thin shell on the outermost part of the earth, accounting for less than 1% of the earth's total volume.
Mantle: The mantle of the earth is a layer inside the earth that is sandwiched between the core and the crust. They consist of rocks, and are known to be the largest and most massive layer of the earth.
Outer Core: It is a 2,400km thick fluid layer that is composed of mostly iron and nickel and it lies above the earth's inner core and below the mantle.
Inner Core: The earth's inner core is known to be the innermost geological layer of the planet earth, taking the shape of a ball of radius 1,220km (20% of the earth's radius).
During the exams, students are tested on their knowledge and understanding of earth science via MCQs, short answer, and essay questions. To get a good pass in this section, one needs to prepare well. For more exciting quizzes, click here.
